UBIK Project (Periphery Collective 2) ; exhibition, launch, blog, street, life…
Ubik is a philosophical science- fiction masterpiece about life, reality, entropy, existence, perception, sensory-border, metaphysics that is written by P.K. Dick, author- philosopher. Ubik Project intents to put the World of Ubik, notions and arguments into image forms and discuss them in depth. Ubik Project tries to seduce a collective imagination/creation world by concentrating on notions, texts, inter-discipline conflicts, connections, border violations.,
For it’s the highest edge of P.K.Dick, creator of a philosophical/metaphysical/poitical conception of the world, whose works were translated into many languages and adapted to cinema; naturally intents to leak into the imaginary world of P.K.D.

The exhibition will portray the archive of Tuna’s collection of her accomplishments (a feminist figure who has lived an active life starting from 1950’s in Istanbul) which were found on the street by Komet. He says “Neriman Tuna as owner of the ‘Yeni Yaşantı’ (New Life) magazine, lived a life protecting the rights of women, working for women’s organizations, contacting women’s organizations around the world, contacting many countries’ leading intellectuals, administrators, and union leaders… and spent her fortune in this cause.. at the end, everything she owned were thrown away. I chose these among them, from those dusty visualizations. It is not a fiction, it is a true tragedy of life. ” There will be newspaper clippings, interviews, awards, photos, letters amongs other archival materials in the exhibition. Komet’s intention to make this phantom life visible can also be understood as Tuna’s act of documentation of her own existence, as the material was once selected to create a self-portrait.

Nine artists and collaborators participate in this group show titled ‘The Problem of Nothing’ at HAYAKA ARTI, Istanbul. The seven artists Joshua Bartholomew, Elise Beneteau, Julia Feyrer, Nicole Ondre, Erdem Taşdelen, Alex Turgeon and Cemrenaz Uyguner who all live in and practice out of Vancouver, Canada are threaded into the exhibition through their relationships with the other exhibitors and the organizers. The exhibition exists as a heuristic platform for each artist involved to explore disparate ideas and opportunities on subjects of their practice, interest, and a collective approach on constructing an exhibition, an object, a project… Potentially this ‘experimental’ exhibition (or any idea/project) in its novel setting and situation reorients the already purposive means of production for each artist AND the process of viewing an exhibition for its audience. The exhibitions title is appropriated from the painting ‘The Problem of Nothing’ (1966) by Vancouver artist Michael Morris.
