In 1984 Sert opened her photographic studio in Istanbul. Throughout the 80’s and 90’s she was commissioned by magazines doing fashion photography and portraits, as well as still-life work, record covers, catalogues. In 2005 she opened ARTANE, her new space in Istanbul, which acts as a bridge between Turkey and the International art world by enabling a platform in which artists of many nationalities can create and show new projects. Some of these relate to Istanbul itself, others provide never seen before perspectives. ARTANE is a new kind of space in which art collectors and general public alike can see and acquire some of the latest developments in international contemporary art.
