about the artist
Akay was involved in many national and international design and art projects. Beginning 2004 she started creating linear sculptures called ARK’s which resemble 3D calligraphy. Instead of dealing with the traditional mass she deals more with the “space” in her sculptures, using natural or manmade industrial materials like iron, steel, plastic, etc. Besides creating ARK’s; since 2005 she is a creative member of Istanbul Dance Theatre (IDT+) realizing multidisciplinary projects.
